Leadership Through Play: A New SHE Program
From time to time, NASAGA shares announcements of initiatives from our members that align with NASAGA’s mission of promoting, creating, and sharing the use of games, simulations, and experiential approaches for learning. This month, we’re proud to highlight a new program coming from Super Heroines, Etc. (SHE). Here’s the information about Leadership Through Play!
Over the past year, we’ve listened deeply to our community. People told us they wanted more opportunities to develop leadership skills, explore storytelling, build confidence, and connect with others in inclusive, empowering spaces. Thanks to our supporters, we are now ready to bring that vision to life.
What We’re Launching
Our Leadership Through Play initiative introduces a set of brand-new programs designed to empower women, underrepresented genders, and youth through creativity, collaboration, and play:
Roll for Representation: Teaching leadership, facilitation, and storytelling through GM training.
Play With Purpose: Justice-themed tabletop RPG experiences with guided reflection.
Girls Who GM: GM training for girls and gender-expansive youth.
Youth Advisory Board: Centering youth voice in program design and community leadership.
Family-Friendly Programming: Story-based play for kids 0–12 and caregivers.
Leadership & Activism Symposium: Community-driven leadership education.
Jiffy Con & Super Heroines Con: Community events that celebrate representation, fandom, and collaborative leadership.
Consulting for Inclusive Leadership: Helping conventions and fan events build more accessible and equitable spaces.
Each program is rooted in the same belief that has driven SHE from the beginning: Play is powerful. When we use creativity to practice leadership, empathy, and collaboration, we change what leadership looks like — and who it’s for.
In the coming months, we’ll be recruiting volunteers, announcing pilot programs, and opening opportunities to join community events and youth initiatives. We’ll also share stories from participants, facilitators, and families as these programs come to life.
Your continued support helps us ensure these programs remain accessible, inclusive, and impactful for every person who walks through our doors.
Thank you for believing in our mission, for supporting representation in creative spaces, and for helping us launch work that is joyful, empowering, and transformative.
