NASAGA 2025 Schedule Preview (Wednesday PM/Thursday AM)

We’re less than a month out from NASAGA 2025, which means it’s time to start previewing the schedule! Here’s your taste of the first night and morning; we’ll be rolling out other parts of the schedule over the next few weeks.

Wednesday, 15 October:

  • 9:00am - 5:00pm: Pre-Conference Workshop: Designing and Facilitating Training Games and Activities - Alex Suchman (Pre-registration required). This session, run by NASAGA’s own Alex Suchman, is a conference add-on for early arrivers. Note that it requires a separate registration from your main conference registration.

  • 5:00pm - 6:30pm: Welcome Reception. If this is your first NASAGA, please plan to attend this reception. It’s a great opportunity to meet other NASAGAns and get a sense of the conference atmosphere.

  • 6:30pm - 8:00am: Dinner on your own. Enjoy the incredible offerings of Oxford, but don’t go too far, because…

  • 8:00pm - 10:30pm: Game Night. Many NASAGAns describe the Game Nights as a highlight of the conference. We will have games available, and feel free to bring your own!

Thursday, 16 October:

  • 8:00am - 9:00am: Breakfast. Yummy treats to fuel you for the day’s adventures!

  • 9:00am - 10:30am: Keynote 1 - Miami Tribe. A presentation by representatives of the Miami tribe who will showcase how games and simulations for learning have been used in the tribe for centuries.

  • 10:30 - 11:00am: Break! Talk, network, share game ideas - your time to engage fellow NASAGANs.

  • 11:00am - 12:30pm: Breakout Session 1. You’ll choose between one of two amazing breakout sessions, where you’ll engage in playful learning presented by world-class facilitators. The sessions are:

    • Quest to join The Order of Brave Thinkers: Step into an immersive adventure where learning comes alive! This session uses story-driven challenges to spark courageous, curious, and critical thinking. Participants collaborate through hands-on trials in a supportive, imaginative environment that proves growth doesn't have to be boring—it can be bold, fun, and unforgettable.

    • Making History: Breakups, Bias, and the Construction of Narrative: Briar and Skye just broke up. Why? That question unfolds into a complex exploration of evidence, bias, and historical interpretation. Work in small groups to construct hypotheses using "Evidence Cards" of varying relevance and reliability, grappling with how personal bias and limited information shape the stories we tell about the past.

  • 12:30pm - 2:00pm: Lunch on your own. You’ll need to decompress a little after a terrific morning. Fortify yourself for the rest of the day!
