GameRT mini-conference, March 31

by Rebecca Strang (she/her), GameRT President

The Games & Gaming Round Table (GameRT) of the American Library Association invites you to join us for a mini conference about tabletop roleplaying games in libraries! GameRT provides a venue for librarians interested in the use of games and gaming in libraries of all types a place to gather and share. As a round table, GameRT is built around our shared passion for games and the use of gaming within libraries.

For this mini conference, we’ve gathered 17 presentations from librarians and gaming scholars in a variety of fields to examine how these games intersect with library theory and practice. The event takes place on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 10a Central - 6:30p Central.

Danielle Costello, GameRT Program Committee Co-Chair, is leading the organization of this event and says, "At GameRT we all have a great passion for both gaming and librarianship. Those who are on the board, like myself, get a lot of chances to share and showcase what we find exciting and worthwhile. This mini conference was created to give our broader membership and even those outside the librarian field have a chance to also share their knowledge and interests. We don’t want to just dictate what we believe gaming librarianship to be but rather want to build space to explore the varied thoughts and distinct experiences that our members hold."
