By Brian Stauber, NASAGA 2027 Chair
Following up on last week’s post, I want to lay out my priorities for the remainder of 2026 and 2027. The themes that underpin all of these efforts are Reset, Rebuild, and Realign.
Increased Virtual Presence
We will work to increase our connections with members and non-members alike online. Mechanisms to do this include:
Monthly events on Discord or other forums
Virtual Game Nights and Playtesting
Game Jams
Curated online community building
Membership Services
We will reassess our current membership offerings to get a better understanding of what members want. We will do this by:
A forthcoming survey for members on what they actually need
Mapping out our members and where they are in both geography and in what fields/specialities
Adjusting our NASAGA offerings accordingly
Collaboration with Partner Organizations
We will engage other like-minded organizations in this space and look for ways to build relationships of mutual assistance. This engagement could include:
Presence at other conferences
Sponsorship of events
Engagement with organizations in gaming, education, and development spaces not expressly working in fields of applied play
Outreach to members of other organizations with NASAGA’s value proposition
Fundraising
We will increase our fundraising for NASAGA to better support members, pull more people into conferences, and advertise the organization. Doing this requires a discovery process of what donors, both individual and organizational, want to see in this space. This might include group conference attendance packages, supporting their own work through member expertise, or more information on the amazing work NASAGA members are doing. It also takes time, connections, and skill
No 2027 Conference
We have made the difficult decision not to schedule a 2027 NASAGA conference. Instead, we are actively exploring ways to partner with existing conferences and conventions to establish a substantial NASAGA presence in multiple locations next year. In addition, we will be hosting regular virtual events. Keep watching this space for more exciting news on this front!
NASAGA Needs You!
To do all of this, we need the support of our volunteers. If you see something on this list that resonated with you where you can help, think you can support in other ways, please contact me on our Discord server or message me directly at brian@staubercoaching.com and let me know what you think!
