Debriefing facilitated by a computer?

I'm presenting a paper next month on debriefing in experiential educational games.  My hypothesis is that we are not doing a good job incorporating debriefing into educational games.   As these will not have a human facilitator, I've been looking into self-assessment tools that can allow for debriefing.I would like to present models of games that do this well or programs that facilitate a debriefing.  Have you created, or are you familiar with, any tools that take a single participant through…See More

As part of a new path of marketing NASAGA to gamers in the workplace, I'm doing a workshop next week at the Board Game Geek annual event helping gamers think about how they can turn their passion about games into something in the workplace. So, I'm looking for Your Story! I'd like to find the stories from people who started from a love of games, and found a way to fit them into their work.   My goal is to present a variety of scenarios to help folks think about how they might make a connection…See More

Greetings! One of my areas of focus in NASAGA is to make it easier for game hobbyists and enthusiasts to get involved.  One way I want to do this is to gather cases of NASAGA members who got into what they are doing because of their passion for games.  For those people who already know games, we want to raise awareness of how they can turn their passion into something valuable for an organization. So, the purpose of this request is to collect your stories.  I'm seeking people who came to an…See More

Find the Future report from the NYPL

In May of 2011, the New York Public Library hosted a big game run by Jane McGonigal called "Find the Future".  Over 5000 people applied to be one of the 500 who would go to the NYPL and participate in writing a book in one evening.  The game ran from 8pm until 6am.I was one of those 500 people, so I thought I would share my experiences. We reported to the NYPL before 8pm to get checked in and get our smartphones working with the game interface.  (You can still see the online game through …See More

CBS piece on board games

This morning, there was a piece on CBS Morning News about the revival of board games.  I was a part of it.  One of the interesting focus areas of the piece is on the social nature of board games as being a key draw, and I think there are interesting parallels to the type of training games we do as compared to a single-learner module. You can see the piece at  http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7361550n Scott (sadly, all of the…See More
