I am only too happy to second your nomination of Fred Goodman. It seems odd that he was forgotten, but he kind of dropped out before most (90% ?) of the present members joined. I received the award after assuming that I had likewise been forgotten, and I am sure I owe it to another oldtimer, Thiagi. It would be good if we could see Fred with the award.
I may attend: on the one hand, Vancouver is far from home; on the other, my brother Luc lives there. If he is around in October, I may just go.
Among the games I had in mind when I thought of the Ancestors group was your game on ressources, with straws as building material, whose name I obviously forget. If you had a moment, your ideas behind the game, the importance of actual people, the importance of actually manipulating material, the tendency to forget the cost of ressources as the building progresses, and your other inspirations would be a weighty addition to the discussion I would like to see built up in the Ancestors.
