"Good evening Tom. With reference to my comment that "F2F events often don't translate well into virtual," a little context. That begins with recognizing the character of the F2F you're talking about. Many people (I know that no…"

"Hi Bob,   I have just been requested to put on a virtual class instead of a F2F.    Your comment that "F2F events often don't translate well into virtual" perked up my ears. I was wondering what you meant and if you or…"

"Clarice, a lot depends on who you are onboarding, and what you want that objective to accomplish. For example, a couple years ago, we incorporated Second Life as a component of a blended onboarding for new salespeople. That's pretty virtual.…"

"Hi David. I can't comment on the $$-making aspect. I can say that  - with careful and creative design - virtual events can be every bit as much fun and value as face to face. From experience, I can say that F2F events often don't…"

Human Capital Management & Simulations/Games

As our event team hunted down a Virtual Event Platform, we realized that there is a great opportunity to use these environments for a variety of different tasks in the Human Capital Management arena.  From Learning and Development to On Boarding and ???, these simulated environments provide a low cost approach. How many organizations are using simulations and gaming in this respect.  Who are the top providers? I think our audience would be very interested in hearing more about this. See More

Virtual Events

We have three publications and a variety of in-person events throughout the year.  The powers that be are interested in creating a virtual enviornment that would host a number of different aspects of the archived content as well as live virtual events.  I have taken tours through a variety of different platforms, but am not completely sold on the idea.  Granted it is a hot trend right now and a $$ generator, but will it take away from the in-person events I enjoy so much?

Chief Learning Officer Symposium at Southern California

September 27, 2010 to September 29, 2010
I attended the event last April in Bocca Raton Florida. The group was very interested in Simulations and Gaming used for learning and development. The audience is made up of high-level learning and development executives. This Fall we will be hosting the event at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel in Dana Point, Ca. It takes place September 27-29. I wanted to make this group aware that there are opportunities to get in front of this audience. davidt@mediatecpub.com
