Self-Identified gamer?

Being a "gamer" has different connotations, but in my opinion it probably means that you are looking forward to your next game activity and would be the person in the group who usually suggests playing a game. One of our new members (James Sterrett) put it their profile that they have been a gamer since late in the 1970s and it got me thinking about the term.

I'm thinking that NASAGA would be full of "gamers", but I know that isn't entirely true. I'm just wondering who on this forum (now almost 800 people) self-describes themself as a gamer. And if you do, are you a hard-core gamer, a mid-core gamer, or a casual gamer?

I would say that I'm a hard-core gamer in terms of board games and a mid-core gamer in terms of video games.

I recently told someone that "meals are just game playing times in disguise." I have been blessed to be able to start almost everyday by playing a game with my wife and sister-in-law while we eat our breakfast (mostly Race for the Galaxy or Dominion) and it has become my favorite time of the day.

Well, I'm out of the closet as a gamer, and probably count as relatively hard-core both as a board and computer gamer. I haven't managed to turn mealtimes into game time, though - yet.... A 5 year old at home might make that a messy proposition, though in all fairness, that may mean I'm thinking of the wrong game!

I would describe myself as a gamer. I play a lot of boardgames (about 9 hours a week at least), and I used to spend 20 or so hours a week on x-box, but I haven't had time or desire lately. I find the older I get, the more I want to play boardgames over video games. I'm not sure if that qualifies me as "hard-core" or not, but I would consider gaming my primary hobby.
