May Sponsored topic - Favorite Energizer or Ice Breaker

This month I hope to see lots of responses as we all have an ice breaker or energizer that we like to do in our classes. Please tell us your favorite one.

I love the 2 truths and a lie game, but I have seen it overdone and gone badly in some cases. I enjoy the "Who am I?" game where you guess your celebrity by asking others (a name is pinned to your back). And since I'm a balloon artist, I enjoy passing out balloons for everyone to make a balloon if the energy is getting low.

I expect to see many responses this month and other discussions to show up as people have a need for ideas. We all need to work to help this community grow, and this website site is a major arm for the publication of NASAGA - so let's make this community vibrant!

REGULAR TRIANGLE

Start this acitivity in a circle with about 20 to 50 participants. Ask everyone to find 2 partners for the next activity, the partners should not know who has chosen them (all the people keep standing in the circle, they just know who they have chosen but not who has chosen them).

And now it comes: ask them to form a regular triangle with their partners - no matter how long the sides are, keep yourself and the two partners in a triangle formation.

The group becomes a moving crowd in which it is quite challenging to fulfill the task, however, after a while, groups usually manage to finish it, to everybody's surprise.

This activity offers also a metaphor of interdependence in teams, classes etc.
A mini-ad for Visuals Speak - a company that actively supports NASAGA, but one that is timely with our sponsored monthly topic.

Icebreakers Are Here! from VisualsSpeak
We’re proud to announce the Visual Icebreaker Kit!

After years of living through bad icebreakers (“Let’s play Annoying Personality Bingo!”), we decided it was time to help people with icebreakers that actually…work!

So, after lots of research and testing, the Visual Icebreaker Kit was born. In addition to 36 carefully-selected images, you’ll find sets of icebreakers that specifically focus on different outcomes, depending on where the group needs to be:

Making Introductions
Building Trust
Conducting a Mini-Assessment
Sparking Engagement
Getting Alignment
Plus, there are additional exercises to use as energizers or as reflection prompts! All of this is in a small box that is easy to transport and quickly use at any meeting, training, or facilitation–whether or not you’re using the other VisualsSpeak tools.

As you can tell, we’re pretty excited. You can learn more about the Visual Icebreaker Kit on the web site.

----Greg Note---
I both have some of the purchased VisualsSpeak photo cards, and some of the photo cards from TheLearningKey's game. But if you have the time and lots of magazines, cutting out photos from magazines works just as well sometimes. Having a spread of photos and having people pick some photos that they identify with, and then explain why they chose that specific photos, is always an icebreaker that works well.
