Thanks for the sentiment. It was two years ago that I attended my first NASAGA conference and took the Game Development Certification. From that I developed the Hurricane Shelter board game and was introduced at that time to the educational and training uses of Second Life (SL) by fellow NASAGAns. After exploring SL in 2009 we developed the SL based (virtual world) Hurricane Simulation which was based originally on the board game. in 2011 we took second place in the Federal Virtual Worlds Challenge held by the US Army. Even more fulfilling is seeing the implementation of the Coastal Storm Plan here in NYC by the trained staff that we prepared for this response. They did an excellent job in sheltering over 10,000 shelter clients during Hurricane Irene. I am very excited to return to my third NASAGA conference this year and present this simulation together with Anders. Gronstedt (inworld) and meet up with old friends and new colleagues.
