Games and Simulations on Leadership development - focusing on business acumen

Any thoughts from the crowd to help me with this request for a game on Leadership? Thanks,

As part of a Leadership Development program for our top leadership we want a training experience that focuses on business acumen, that is, understanding all of the functions across our enterprise.

We’re searching for a game or simulation with the following components:

· Experiential, hands-on, role playing

· The full life cycle of a new product, from R&D through Manufacture to Marketing and Sales with a variety of support functions also involved

· Customizable to our business functions

I’ve reviewed the HRDQ catalogue and Thiagi’s templates book with no results. Can you suggest either some specific game titles or other resources I can research?

Well Greg,

I am somewhat disappointed that Income/Outcome did not immediately spring to your mind.  It is all of the above, with a variety of formats:  Level 1 is 4 hours, Level 5 runs 3 days (the in-between versions are 1, 1.5, 2 days).   Select a program based on the audience needs; generally the longer programs are more strategically complex simulation, with lots of formal finance lessons.  The 4 hour version is our rapid learning  scenario - focussing on fun and engagement, with not a lot of formal teaching (but lots of learning nonetheless!).

All the simulations work together to build a shared experience and a common language.  e.g. You can you use Level 4 for sales people, Level 2 for new-hires, Level 1 for a special meeting or event.   And for even more fun, there are Rematch! versions to reinforce (or add more) learning a year down the road.

A set of solutions on this you can find at www.celemi.se

I would advise the easy Apples & Oranges or the challenging and competitive simulation Decision Base, according to the needs. Both work perfectly for business acumen.

They have representatives in the USA and the most seasoned facilitator in Atlanta, by the way. If you want the contact, please let me know (jose.ochoa@gmail.com)

Good luck!
