North American Simulation and Gaming Association

Hi to all:
I seee many interesting features on the new site and look forward to trying them out. I see rss feed options for the discussions and blog.

What I can't seem to find at the moment is a way to get a daily digest email of all the discussions. I can see an email setting for individual discussions but not the whole thing. Same thing for the blog, is there an email update for blog posts?

Thanks for the hard work
Chris

I haven't found out how to do that yet on Ning sites. But you can add some more email settings (add or delete) to your profile by clicking Settings in the top right (under Inbox, Alerts, and Friends). Choose the Email or Privacy tabs (Tabs being on the left top, instead of on the top).

This doesn't really answer your question fully though. I'm looking at the blog.ning.com which has some answers but not all. The Ning blog shows that today there is a new Facebook interactive app, that me might look into. There are some people on the board looking at this site useability, but we would love help if we have some interested NASAGA members who want to get involved and help with this website change.
Greg,
I was looking at email options and ran across this application that sounds promising.

Now you can add your own automated email newsletter to your Ning site with the free application from NutshellMail.

The NutshellMail application, named a finalist of the 2009 Ning Appathon, gives your users the ability to sign up for a newsletter that highlights recent and featured content from your network. The app places an “Email Newsletter” tab on your network that your members can opt-in to receiving on a schedule of their choosing (as seldom as once a week or as often as three times a day). You can see an example of an email newsletter for the Creator's Network
Brandon, can you do the steps to add this to our network? I have tried and I don't have the access to add Nutshell to our network. It looks like a good app to have available for people to use.

Also, the new Groups tab has shown up and looks like it could be useful - perhaps groups being profession (Professor/Teachers vs. Training developers) or location (US - East Coast, Brazil, etc). But we don't seem to have access to create a group or join a group.

Thanks!
Greg,

Thanks for trying to find an answer to this. The good news about this site is that it provides the opportunity for a richer level of sharing, interaction and discussion, what I consider to be the hallmarks of the NASAGAN community.

Until we find a way to get emails automagically sent to my inbox, my work around is to add this to Firefox startup pages. If you use Firefox, simply add a NASAGA.org tab the other tabs that you use on startup, and then go to preferences and find the startup section, and click "use current pages."

At least that works for me.

Also, when you read a post that you think is interesting, you choose to follow it. At the bottom of the post there is a "follow email." I've just decided to follow this one to see what happens.

As a test, any soul that sees this post, please add something so I can see just how it follows. My guess is an email to the address I registered at Ning on.
